Multiplexing Independent Streams

Multiple logical streams can share a single physical connection by interleaving frames and tracking stream identity; this amortizes connection establishment cost but requires mechanisms to prevent interference between streams.

Tension Addressed

Simplicity vs. Performance; Statelessness vs. Efficiency

Recognizable As

HTTP/2 streams, virtual circuits, channel multiplexing, thread pools, connection pools with request multiplexing
